Now you see me

Now you see me
In the middle of a meadow stands something that is simultaneously a frogfish and a meadow. Its body is built from flowers: pink, mossy green, pressed so densely together that the form reads first as a mossy rock, then as a bush. Only gradually, as the eye traces the outline, finds the fin, locates the eye, it resolves into a fish.
Frogfish are masters of camouflage, becoming their surroundings so completely they effectively cease to exist as separate things. Here it has done it again, in a field it was never meant to inhabit. Now you see it. What has been there all along.
